It’s hard to believe that 2014 is almost over! If you feel like the years are just flying by (we do!) now is a great time to take a few minutes and reflect on all the amazing things that this year brought to all of us!

There is so much to be thankful for and so many wonderful memories made each year. Whether it’s meeting new friends, celebrating family milestones and achievements, or heading out on a new adventure like a big move, new job, or family vacation; you’ve done a lot this year!

Here’s just a few things that we’ll remember from 2014:

• We celebrated 30 years of dishing up pint-sized rides and fun for the Sacramento Area. It’s so exciting to see 2nd and even 3rd generation families visiting our park with their kids and grandkids.

• We added a new baby to our herd. The Funderland Family welcomed a sweet baby girl this Spring and we’re so happy to have a new little to call our own!

\n

• We’ve made so many new local friends and connected with new families in the greater Sacramento Area. We love being a part of your family’s lives and feel honored to be a part of the memory making.

• We’ve already started on renovations and in-park improvements that we can’t wait to unveil during the 2015 and 2016 seasons. We know you’ll love them too!

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year to spend with family and friends and celebrate the season. However, if you’re looking for ways to spice up your Thanksgiving celebrations, we have a couple of festive ideas for you and your family to try this year!

1. Give back this Thanksgiving

There are lots of ways to give back to your community or to local or national non-profits. This is just another great way to help teach kids the art of gratitude and build their character.

2. Get your kids to be grateful

Spend about 10 -15 minutes as a family sharing what you’re thankful for. Encourage your kids to think beyond being thankful for their toys (although these are things to be grateful for too!). Jot down what everyone shares and save them someplace safe. Then next year you can re-read them together and remember all that you were thankful for!

• Beginning Oct. 13th we will begin deconstructing our Log Ride. But not to worry, we will have a new, one of its kind, pirate water ride to replace it!

• Beginning Nov. 1 we will begin re-routing our car ride. By next year a whole new look and track will be ready to be explored by all our riders!

• In 2015 & 2016 we will have a new swing and custom, pirate water ride to unveil! We can’t wait to introduce them to you!

• In the near future we will be opening in park restrooms for our patrons. We’re very excited to be able to finally provide in house facilities for all our Funder-families and hope you are too!

This time of year is one of Happy the Squirrel’s favorite times of year! Since he’s busy stocking up his acorns for winter, we’ve got a few fun ways to celebrate fall with your family at home, out and about, or in our park! Choose your favorite or do all 5 and keep the fall fun going.

Festive & Fun Ways to Celebrate Fall as a Family

1. Make something sweet with apples

\n

These seasonal favorites are at the peak of harvest, making them sweet and inexpensive. They’re great for dipping, tossing in a salad, snacking on with cheese, or baking into your favorite desserts. Some of our favorite includes apple muffins, and home-made apple sauce.

\n\n

2. Embrace all types of gourds

\n

Pumpkins are another season favorite, but there are lots of other fun fall decorations that are from the gourd family. In hues of green, orange, yellow, and white, you can turn any area in your home into a festive fall oasis.

\n\n

3. Turn your backyard into a weekend farm

\n

Hosting a fun harvest themed party is just what this time of year calls for. Invite the kiddos over for apple bobbing, pumpkin decorating, pin the face on the pumpkin, and harvest hoedown (musical chairs).

\n\n

4. Have a Fall-themed scavenger hunt

\n

Print items to hunt for before heading out into your neighborhood or local park. Seasonal items include acorns, colorful leaves, pumpkins, scarecrows, rakes, squirrels, pinecones, apples, and more!

5. Turn ordinary household items into crafts for the kids

\n

You don’t have to spend a fortune on holiday inspired crafts. You just have to gather up a few household items and get creative. We love these 10 craft ideas using commonly found items in your home.
